What I'm Watching Right Now: Honeykki
All I really want from YouTube right now is content that feels like freshly clean sheets and a very mild, warm breeze—Honeykki is that channel for me.

“VLOG #32,” in which Honeykki prepares brown sugar boba and myung-ran rice, caught my attention a few weeks ago, and since then I’ve been hooked on their diverse home food content, mostly Korean and East Asian food.
A minimalist aesthetic and muted color palette give Honeykki’s semi-instructional cooking videos and food vlogs a soothing quality while still managing to be informative. Most of Honeykki’s videos aren’t super pedagogical, so the Korean dishes would be difficult to replicate without some prior knowledge of East Asian food; but to be honest, I don’t watch to replicate. Close-up shots of the food and brief subtitles allow the focus to be Honeykki’s precise knife skills and techniques, making it easy to just appreciate their refined, intuitive cooking and introduce yourself to more Korean dishes and ingredients.

If you’re obsessed with Asian street food like I am, definitely check out their sweet potato bungeoppang video to see how the trendy, fish-shaped Korean classic is made; likewise, if you’re curious about how to makes fish paste, give Honeykki’s shrimp toast video a look. Asian food enthusiasts and indifferent viewers alike can find leisure in Honeykki’s simple, satisfying food content.
